Redemption Run
Well I definitely got my redemption run in today. The reason I have been focusing so much on running lately is because the first race I have in the spring will be the the Salt Lake Marathon and I have a specific goal time I want to reach. So for the past few months I have focused on getting a good base mileage down and then next month I start speed work and race pace workouts. To prime up for the race pace workouts I use the treadmill a lot to stay at my lactate threshold and today I had a great run. I always feel like I accomplished something when I can push the pace at race pace because speed is not really my strength. I am an endurance person all the way so my comfort zone is to run long not fast. I think the point here is that its easy to stick with things we are comfortable with, but what makes a good athlete is someone who will try new things and push beyond their comfort zone, beyond their usual limits and test themselves not just on race day but when no one is watching.
