about me

Running History
In the summer of 06' I moved out to Utah and used running as a way to stay in shape.  I soon found that I could connect mentally with the sport because it was so similar to swimming.  I decided that in order to fill the void of competing in swimming, I would sign up for my first race, the Salt Lake half marathon.  I loved it and quickly moved on to trail running as well.  My first season, I concentrated on mostly the half marathon distance but it wasn't long before I wanted a stab at the marathon. I d
decided to do a trail race as my first one and placed ninth.  By this time I became really fond of trail running in particular and set out to try some ultra marathons.  My next season I would go on to race in three ultra marathons, two marathons and a couple 25k's all in one summer.  I placed in the top five almost every race I participated in and started to prepare to move up to my first fifty and hundred miler when a friend suggested I try an Ironman.

Enter Triathlon
My running friends Bob and Michelle told me about how Bob had signed up to do an Ironman.  They were aware of my swimming background and running abilities, especially in long distance and thought I should try it.  I took their advice, bought a bike ( with the help of Jake my boyfriend), and was on my way.  I trained all winter and chose the Boise 70.3 to be my first triathlon.  I was nervous but the event turned out to be one of the coolest races I have ever participated in.  I ended up loving the atmosphere and combination of all three sports. Little did I know Jake would know this before I did and had secretly signed me up to do the Boulder half Ironman!  I was pumped and saw it as a chance to improve my time.  Boulder was amazing and had such a beautiful course.  I barely broke five hours but qualified for the World Championships in Vegas!  I couldn't believe it but I was very
happy.  Next up after a local olympic triathlon,  I was off to Vegas to compete with the best and oh my, this was no joke!  It was a very hard race for me and my lack of bike experience really showed,
but I loved being in the company of such amazing athletes and it was an experience of a lifetime!

Since then I have competed in two more 70.3 World Championships and shave competed in four full Ironman's  including the Ironman World Championships in Kona. I will be headed to Kona for a second time this year as well. I have won my age in both full and half Ironman distances and placed in the top two overall amateur in every full and half Ironman this 2014 season. I even qualified to get my professional license and will be racing as a pro for the 2015 season! Please follow my journey as I make the make the leap to professional triathlete.
