Ten reasons why going to Disneyland is the same as Sherpa-ing an Ironman

Jake and I took a sight seeing day:)
It's amazing how tiring vacations can be.  I really enjoyed my trip to Disneyland with Jake's family,  but between fitting in workouts and walking through Disney hitting up every ride possible from eleven in the morning until eight at night, it had a strong resemblance to actually doing an Ironman or Sherpa-ing an Ironman.  Luckily the weather in California is amazing( about 70 degrees and sunny skies ) so running was quite pleasant and Jake got me a free pass to the good ole YMCA, so I squeezed some lonely swims in there as well.  The pool was literally like the temperature of a hot tub ,which if you know me is just how I like it, although it did make for a bit of a lethargic swim.
I learned on this trip that there is a certain way you have to attack a day at the Disneyland park and you must be prepared. As I said, it reminds me of the times I have Sherpa'd an Ironman, so much so that I made a list of the similarities ....
1) Disney:  you have to get up really early. 1) Ironman: you have to get up really really early

2) Disney: you must wear a pair of sneakers that are super comfy because you will be on you're feet for hours 2) Ironman : same thing

3)Disney:  you must bring a water bottle that is refillable because hydration is key from standing walking and being in the sun all day 3) Ironman: same thing

4) Disney: sling backpack to carry all of you're belongings 4) Ironman: definitely needed

5) Disney: essentials that you will need include, hat, suntan lotion, sweatshirt for when the sun goes
down, snacks to sustain energy 5) Ironman: Same essentials needed

6) Disney: cell phone for meeting up with family/ friends at different rides 6) Ironman: cell phone for
tracking

7) Disney: coffee break mid afternoon at place just outside the venue 7) Ironman: Same thing needed

8) Disney : home base hotel to regroup, maybe take a rest, change etc... 8) Ironman: same thing

9) Disney: loose you're voice because of  screaming so loud on rides. 9) Ironman: Loose you're voice screaming so loud for loved ones

10) Disney: Sit and wait on long lines  10) Ironman: sit and wait for you're loved one

California was super fun... but getting home... not so much. I was getting excited on Friday to head home and back to my training schedule.  I ran my last run that morning before catching my flight and was pumped to decompress then go on a ride outside with friends on Saturday.  Instead Jake and I ended up spending valentines day sitting in LAX until 5 o"clock waiting for our plane to be "fixed" only to find out after waiting 5 hours, that we couldn't fly out until the next day...bummer. Guess I would be flying solo on saturday.  We landed in Provo at about 12:30 this afternoon..rode home and I was on my trainer by about 2 o'clock, finishing my run just in time for the sun to go down. Whew!! done and done,  just happy I got it in!
Here's a pic of my last run in the sunshine before the supposed flight...
