Race Report For St. George

On Saturday I raced in the St. George half marathon and it was awesome.  I have never done this race before but am so happy I found out about it because I was itching to do a race to see where my training was at.  I have been hitting the running pretty hard the past couple of months so it was great to break it up with a fast paced run and a mini taper.  The race started out pretty chilly due to the rainy weather, but I was very prepared clothing wise, actually maybe could have lost a few layers. I thought the course was awesome, a lot of flat with some slight hills throughout and my legs were feeling quick and strong. Wasn't quite sure where I was as far as place but really my goal was the time, so i tried to concentrate on my splits. I think it was this concentration that made it go by pretty fast because before i knew it we were on mile eleven and it was time to bring it on home. I pushed for the last mile and a half and looked at my watch coming through the shoot just within the time I wanted!  I finished with a 1:26:47 and took fifth place.  I was very happy with the outcome especially because it means my training has all been worth it!  However, the best part of any race for me is seeing Jake, my boyfriend smiling at the finish line rain or shine.  I have to say that support means the most to me no matter how I do, and every race is dedicated to him for that reason!

  1. Katy, so glad the race went well on Saturday. You know I'm right there behind Jake's shoulder cheering you on in spirit if not in person. Love ya!
